Aquasky - Exclusive Mix for Eddy Temple-Morris XFM - 11.11.2011

This is a mix we did for Eddy Temple-Morris on XFM for our album promo of 'Raise The Devil' which was aired on his show on 11.11.11.

The concept was to mix 16 tracks, one for each year we have been together as Aquasky starting from 1990-2005. These were all tracks we use to play in our DJ sets over the years and it logs the progression of Drum and Bass from the early rave era, thru to the jungle era, the intelligent era, the tech step era and finishing on a Drumstep track by us from our album. We added ours as the 17th tune... going forward to next year... or something like that!!! Its nearly 2012... Oi Oi!!!

The spec by Eddy was a 10 min set with tracks that mean something to us... we felt this was a good concept as it shows our personal musical progressions as DJs from 1990 onwards and also the music that was inspiring our productions as well back in the day when we were making d&b... leading up to a new d&b inspired drumstep track from 2011.

Sangers & Ra second original release is entitled "Too Hot Too High"



Australia’s finest, Sangers & Ra return to Westway for their second release after the last one, ‘Nasty’, crashed into the Beatport top ten. ‘Too Hot, Too High’ features N’FA of infamous hip-hop crew 1200 Techniques, and comes with some top-notch remixes too.

Terry Hooligan teams with Filthy Rehab for a filthy bass music re-rub of the track, tinged with elements of Major Lazer and hype electronics. US breakbeat stalwart Keith Mackenzie adds a bit of a ‘dirty Dutch’ topline and flittery synth to his reinterpretation, while the Funkanomics overhaul goes down a pounding electro-house route.

‘Too Hot, Too High’ also comes with its own video, shot at the incredible KaZantip festival in the Ukraine a couple of months ago.



‘Too Hot, Too High’ gets a Beatport exclusive release on November 7th, with a general release on all the other download sites a fortnight later (November 21st).

Zach Moore - DISTRIKT Podcast - Episode 021

The mind-blowing parties at DISTRIKT this year were exceeded only by the teamwork, camaraderie and friendship that made them all possible. I feel like I've worn that line out since Burning Man, but it still rings true and that, more than anything else, was my big take-away from a week in the Black Rock desert with DISTRIKT. It was really something special to see such a tight-knit group of friends work so well together to achieve so much.

I was not at Burning Man in 2010 and I missed the maiden voyage of the DISTRIKT camp, which by all accounts was a huge success, but as far as I can tell DISTRIKT was even better in 2011. There was a cool, sophisticated aesthetic to the camp design that had not been seen before thanks to Ronnie Altoonian. There were lavish intra-camp amenities (e.g. a huge, shaded bar complete with chandeliers (and stripper poles), camp showers with hot and cold water options, a cozy dust-free chill space known as the 'bordello' and two giant misting trees in the middle of the dance space). Thanks to the craftsmanship of Matt Kramer and many others, the camp structures like the DJ booth, the observation deck above it, the staging and dance platforms were rock solid. Thanks to the efforts of Kramer and Ben Seagren there was a well-thought-out and carefully-programmed DJ line-up that created the perfect ambience for the epic parties that took place there all week long. And then there was my good friend, Piper Hook, overseeing the whole production making sure that DISTRIKT ran like a well-oiled, playa party machine from set-up to strike.

I covered a lot of ground at Burning Man this year and I can honestly say that I did not experience anything even remotely close to the vibe at DISTRIKT. It was truly unique.

My heartfelt thanks to everyone at DISTRIKT for sharing the camp with me this year. It was an honor and privilege to be a part of it.
